Boiled baby sardines/iwashi [soft] – (Kamaage) Shirasu ((釜揚げ)しらす)

Wild-caught from Japan, Wakayama, comes frozen.

No MSG and no preservative added.

Easy to separate into small portions. Great for young children as it is high in calcium and omega-3 while also low in mercury.

Usage: cook in porridge, omelette, rice or soup. 

Are Baby Sardines/Iwashi the same as whitebait? 

Whitebait is a collective term for immature juvenile fish. Whitebait are not a species of fish but the immature fry of many species, depending on where they are caught. They can be an inch long and may consist of immature herring, sardines, etc.
