Wild Low Mercury Pacific Haidacore™ Albacore Tuna (about 600g)
Wild Low Mercury Pacific Haidacore™ Albacore Tuna (about 600g)
Wild-caught by hook-and-line in the cold waters of Haida Gwaii, north-west of British Columbia, Canada. Comes frozen.
The Haidacore™ Albacore Tuna is an amazing fish — it is high in omega-3 oil content and low in mercury. This fish eats a diet of oil-rich fish and is harvested in fall, when its omega-3 oil content is at its highest. The average omega-3 oil content of this fish has been found to be 4.83 grams per 100 grams of tissue, making the oil content noticeably higher than Farmed Atlantic Salmon at 1.8 grams. Moreover, as these hook-and-line fish are caught exclusively between the age of two to three years, they're too young to have had the chance to accumulate any significant amount of mercury in their bodies.
Recommended cooking method: Pan seared, grill, bake.
